Veterinarians need to be part of West Nile disease storytelling

This year, Italy has seen a rise in West Nile virus cases. The disease is transmitted by Culex mosquitoes, whose range is moving northwards owing to climate change. It causes symptoms ranging from flu-like illness to severe neurological issues. Dozens of cases have been reported and there have been 24 deaths of elderly or immunocompromised people with pre-existing pathologies.
